INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY
AT THE HEART OF THE NEW 2016 MATRA COLLECTION
NuVinci
The NuVinci® transmission system is revolutionary; it enables a relaxed ride thanks to a smooth progression from one gear ratio to the next. The NuVinci® technology translates into less focus on how the bike works and more on what matters! For example, traffic or the beauty of your surroundings. Continuously variable planetary gear transmission is the foundation of the NuVinci® technology, which easily adapts to your cycling needs; whether you are waiting at a red light or pedalling hard into a headwind, you will always have the best gear ratio selected thanks to NuVinci Optimized™ components. No more gear changes, grinding or spinning in the void — simply enjoy the smoothness of the ride. You have to try it!
The Harmony system adds an extra element of comfort to the continuously variable transmission technology. This is because the Harmony system provides continuous and automatic shifting for those who prefer not to worry about gear changes at all. You set your preferred cadence, and the transmission is controlled automatically so that you can always pedal at the same rhythm, even uphill or downhill. The gear ratio is always at the optimal setting, which also increases the battery range of your electric bike.
The H8 controller of the Harmony 380 system fitted to the Matra i-Flow Confort Auto allows you to set the cadence yourself using the controller with its impressive LED display (always with smooth shifting, of course). If you want to take over, you can disable the automatic shifting simply by pressing a button.
TranzX
Matra has chosen quality for its drivetrains by selecting the TranzX brand, a leading name in the electric bike market. TranzX is a brand of the JD Group:
- Manufacturer of finished products in the mobility sector
- Specialist supplier of bicycle components
- Over 20 years of recognised experience in this sector
- More than 4,000 employees worldwide
By choosing the best value-for-money ratio on its drivetrains, Matra can offer you a wide range of innovative and high-performing motors while remaining affordable. Here is a presentation of the various drivetrains selected:
M01 250 W
The first motor in the TranzX range combines robustness and efficiency, and will take you wherever you wish without any particular effort, thanks to its rotation sensor which allows you to call upon the best assistance from the very first pedal stroke.
Specifications:
Technology: Brushless geared
Maximum speed: 25 km/h
Nominal/Max torque: 14.5–40 Nm (maximum torque available from start-up)
Quiet: < 69 dB
36V in front or rear mounting
M25 250 W
Also a mid-drive motor, the M25 is the first motor in the TranzX range to combine both rotation and torque sensors. This means it will deliver its power progressively according to your needs, without leaving you behind at start-up. Its very powerful torque indeed allows it to meet all your demands, while remaining very discreet. The M25 is also energy-efficient thanks to its energy optimisation system. Finally, it is fitted with a speed sensor to calculate the energy required at any given moment.
Specifications:
Technology: Brushless geared
Maximum speed: 25 km/h
Nominal/Max torque: 22–60 Nm
Maximum torque: based on your pedalling effort + assistance from start-up
Quiet: < 67 dB
36V in central mounting
E-POWERED BY BOSCH
The i-Flow Confort, i-Step and i-Force ranges from Matra are equipped with the high-performing Bosch drivetrains — the key element of the system!
In a central position, it takes advantage of the gear-changing system to develop its exceptional performance. Since its rotation speed is linked to the pedalling cadence, if the user changes gears wisely, the motor is then much more often within its optimal efficiency range. This is why the range is high without resorting to an oversized battery, and it is also what makes it easy to climb gradients of over 20%!
The 4 levels of assistance proportional to the cyclist's input range from 40% to 300% of the effort applied. The system, based on automotive logic, indicates to the user when to change gear. This assistance will therefore be optimal when the user is in the correct pedalling cadence range permitted by the mechanical gear change. The responsiveness of this system is based on a processor that performs 1,000 calculations per second.
Another significant advantage: the wheels are identical to those of a standard bike and are therefore easy to remove, unlike a hub motor wheel. There is no cable to disconnect or sensor to recalibrate when removing them from the bike.
Here is a brief summary of its specifications and qualities:
- Maximum motor torque: 60
- Mid-drive motor weighing less than 4 kg
- Power transmitted to the wheel by making use of the gear-changing system, providing range and climbing capability
- Automotive technology, reliability, performance and optimum efficiency
- Low centre of gravity that does not destabilise the bike
- Compact, robust and waterproof against water splashes, protective cover against stone impacts
- 3 integrated sensors (effort, rotation, speed)
