Renthal – From motorbike equipment to MTB gear

Renthal is a British company specialising, among other things, in the design of MTB cockpit components: MTB stem, the handlebar and the grips. Renthal was founded in 1969 in Manchester, and its name is a portmanteau word forged from the surnames of its founders, Andrew Renshaw and Henry Rosenthal. Having entered the MTB equipment market in 2010, this is a recent area of activity for Renthal which, in its early days, exclusively produced handlebars for motorcycles (trials bikes and then motocross). Built initially on its expertise in aluminium, the British brand's reputation has been confirmed on the MTB scene: its products are particularly popular among the most committed downhill riders!

Depending on their shape or length, Renthal handlebars and stems are more or less suited to one discipline or another MTB. Disciplines where handling is king, such as DH, require suitable equipment, including a short stem like the Renthal "Apex", or even one integrated into the fork (Direct Mount fitting of the "Integra II" stems). For precise handling, a long Renthal handlebar (780 mm) with a pronounced rise (40 mm) is also preferable to a flat model, which is more convenient when it comes to pushing a big gear (XC).
