Description
Developed and tested with Greg Minnaar, the MAXXIS Assegai 29x2.50" WT 3C tyre Maxx Grip Double Down takes its name from a spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. It is therefore the perfect weapon to conquer the mountains with your Enduro bike.
It features tall knobs providing great traction and good support on dry and wet, rooty or rocky terrain. The 3C Maxx Terra compound combines three different rubber compounds: one is hard for the base of the knobs to ensure good rigidity during deformation and maintain precise handling; the second is soft for the central knobs to optimise their deformation during braking, pedalling and obstacle clearance; and the last is very soft for the knobs on the sidewalls in order to provide maximum grip in corners.
In this version Tubeless Ready can be mounted with or without an inner tube, this tyre also features Double Down reinforced sidewalls that are more robust and rigid than the EXO Protection casing. Made with 2 plies of 60 tpi and a bead with a butyl insert, this casing developed for Enduro is lighter than the brand's DH casing.

"This is the 3rd Assegai I've bought in max grip, very resistant to aggression despite my weight (97 ke) and even when very worn like the one I've got on the rear at the moment, it still grips in all conditions. The best for me, maybe a little less on the rear when it's new for the performance, then I'll take a max terra on the rear."

"front-mounted, the grip is impressive. I didn't give it top marks because, at almost 1.4kg, it's still a bit heavy. As for the rear, a DD or even DH casing is justified. I'd have preferred a lighter exo+ front frame, but it's not available in this version. As for the rest, there's nothing to complain about. Already a week in the bike park and it's still not at all worn out (maxx grip rubber)".
